The Learning Exercises Against Diabetes (LEAD) research study harnesses the power of a health and wellness vision to inspire and empower individuals who are at-risk of Diabetes to get started on some physical activity in a safe and fun way!
The research study will be conducted across 12 weeks. For the first six weeks (i.e. Week 1 -6), you will be required to attend 1 session (60 mins) per week. You will be required for a follow-up session on Week 12 to review your progress.

This study is scheduled to start in April 2022. The full study schedule and dates will be provided to you once you have been successfully registered. There is a minimum of 100 participants for the study to proceed.
No, you will not have to pay to take part in the study.
The face-to-face sessions will be for 60 minutes, with a mix of theory education and experiential portion for exercises. There will be morning and evening slots on weekdays, as well as morning slots in the weekends.
Yes! We have catered slots on Saturday mornings for those of you who may be working.
You may reschedule your session to any of the remaining available slots. Details on how to do so will be communicated to you once you have successfully been enrolled in the study.
All participants will be given a link to book their weekly session once registered based on a first-come-first served basis. There will be a list of timeslots to choose from across the week, with the earliest morning slots at 8am and last evening slot at 7pm. You are strongly encouraged to keep to the same timeslot and day across the weeks for the best experience.
All participants who complete the study will receive exclusive Active Health premiums and vouchers.
This study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board [ASG-FULL-007] and will be conducted by certified Active Health Coaches.
All participants are required to sign an informed consent form and strongly encouraged to attend all sessions.

The programme aims to teach swimming proficiency and water survival skills in a fun manner. These skills are necessary to help reduce the number of drowning incidents in Singapore.
The SwimSafer™ 2.0 programme consists of 6 stages. Please click on the stage below for more details.
The objective is to develop confidence and independence in the water, learn general and deep-end water safety. Techniques taught include the forward and backward movement, safe entry and exit, and personal water safety.
General skill development including unassisted step entry into the water, sculling, feet first surface dives, personal water safety skills as well as water safety in aquatic environments. One of the goals is to achieve 25 meters of continuous swimming.
Entry skills such as the stride jump will be taught. Skills include sculling, underwater skills and putting on a personal flotation device (PFD) whilst in water and swimming with it. One of the goals is to achieve 50 meters of continuous swimming.
Development of student’s stroke techniques is a focus here, along with coordinated breathing in deep water. This stage sees the introduction of throw rescues and more personal survival skills. One of the goals is to achieve 100 meters of a variety of strokes.
Fundamentals of diving will be introduced. Development of personal survival knowledge will continue with a situational context of swimming quickly away from a sinking boat. Students will be required to demonstrate efficient stroke techniques by swimming a variety of strokes over 200 meters within a given time frame.
Students will be required to perform a variety of strokes with efficiency over 400 metres within a given time frame for each stroke. Personal survival skills like making use of clothing to make a personal floatation device and swimming with them, putting on a life jacket in water and demonstrating the Heat Escape Lessening Posture technique will be taught.

There are 2 ways to participate in SwimSafer.
The SwimSafer Programme is conducted by SportSG SwimSafer accredited instructors. Each instructor is required to have met and uphold the standards of the CoachSG National Register Of Coaches (NROC). Each instructor receives ongoing evaluation to maintain their skills and knowledge of the SwimSafer programme.
All SwimSafer assessments are conducted by SportSG SwimSafer accredited assessors. Each assessor is required to have met and uphold the standards of the CoachSG National Register Of Coaches (NROC). Each assessor receives ongoing evaluation to maintain their skills and knowledge of the SwimSafer programme.
To be a SportSG accredited SwimSafer coach you must first be a swimming coach. The SwimSafer license is valid for 3 years. During this time, each coach must ensure they keep up to date with requirements such as First Aid Certificate and any additional training required due to programme changes.

Lane Booking for Organisation/Corporate:
To ensure instructors are up-to-date with content knowledge and pedagogical practices. Instructors and Assessors are required to renew their certification every three years in addition to mandatory hours of continuous coach education.
What does the re-certification cover?
The Recertification Course will comprise two parts:

Do note that Continuing Coaching Education (CCE) hours will not be provided for this Recertification Course.

As this is an inaugural course and in line with providing continued support to the coaching industry, we are offering a one-time waiver of course fees to encourage take-up by existing coaches to ensure sustainable coaching development.
