A 90-min topical webinar led by experts, addressing key areas of concerns for parents of preschoolers today. Learn practical strategies to raise active and happy children and how you may better support your child’s development of physical literacy.

Who should attend?

Parents of preschoolers aged 3-6 years old
Children are invited to join for the 30-min parent-child activity segment

Preschool Registration: Preschool representatives may submit interest form on behalf of the centre/cluster of preschools for mass sign-up. SportSG will contact the representative within 7 working days from form submission. For more information, please write in to activeparents@sport.gov.sg

Invited Expert:

Azhar Yusof, Head, CoachSG, Sport Singapore. Azhar has a diverse background; having been a national athlete, an international referee and a multi-sport coach. A teacher by training, he headed the Physical Education Department at Raffles Institution before joining the National Institute of Education as a Senior Lecturer. He has presented in numerous workshops and a number of local and international conferences on the areas of sport and coaching.

Why it is important that sport starts at home
What Physical Literacy and Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) are; and when the golden period of their child's developing years is
How to play an active parenting role and make physical activities fun and engaging for their children

1. What is Active Parents?

Active Parents is a social movement by Sport Singapore that seeks to enable and empower parents to play an active role in their child's life and sporting journey. Initiated in April 2020, more than 20,000 parents have since started their Active Parents journey with us. You may find out more on our website.

2. What are the initiatives offered under ‘Active Parents – Preschool Parent Engagement’?

At present, there are two initiatives that preschools can register their interest for:

Educational (Interactive) – Webinar
Physical Activity – Fitness Video Resource

We will progressively add new initiatives on a quarterly basis – check out our webpage for the latest information!

3. How are these initiatives different from the Nurture Kids programme that my preschool is already participating in?

Nurture Kids is a children-focused, educators-delivered programme (part of the school’s curriculum) that aims to develop physical literacy amongst preschoolers.

Active Parents’ Preschool Parent Engagement initiatives cater to both parents and children, specially designed for them to participate meaningfully, and enhance bonding through play and physical activities.

4. How can preschools make use of these initiatives/resources?

On behalf of your preschool, you may register your interest for the initiatives and use them as part of your parent engagement events e.g., play our 30-min video resource for parents and children to work out a sweat during the event. It’s really up to you!

5. Do we have to pay for any of the initiatives?

The cost of attending the webinars and gaining access to the video resources is waived by Sport Singapore, to allow preschools to utilise them freely for your respective parent engagement initiatives.

Preschools are subject to the respective terms and conditions as indicated in the interest forms e.g., videos are not to be further circulated beyond the registered usage.

6. If everything is free, what do preschools have to take note/provide for?

Registration: Closing dates for registration by parents/preschools are as indicated in the online forms. All you have to do is to disseminate the information to your parents and have them participate on the day!

Post-event feedback/report: For us to improve on the programmes, we would like to gather feedback from the participating preschools. A simple template/survey form will be sent to you for completion.

Terms and Conditions: Upon confirmation, preschools will be subject to the prevailing T&Cs, which will be sent to you via email.
