At the 2022 National School Games, Anglo-Chinese Junior College's (ACJC) Lia Swee clinched the Girls' A Division silver medal in the Foil event, while her teammate, Halyn Chia settled for the joint-bronze. Fast forward a year later, both teenagers who train at the International Fencing School (IFS) "upped their game" and went ahead to claim the top 2 spots in the Foil final. On 20 April 2023 at the OCBC Arena, 17 year old Lia Swee defeated her ACJC team-mate 15-13 to take the gold!

Competing for the last time due to her focus now on studies, Lia Swee told The Straits Times, "Today, I just wanted to have fun, I felt like my standards dropped but I realised I didn’t have to care about that. I should just give it all I’ve got since it’s the last time.” Meanwhile, for the Highlights from the Girls' Foil event on 20 April, do check out the exciting photos, courtesy of Team Nila Content Producer, Anbumani Arivalagan.
