We thank all our sponsors and partners for the support.
Building upon the nationwide success of ‘Old Shoe New Future’ in 2020, this project seeks to create a permanent shoe waste collection eco-system. Rubberized and elastomeric shoe waste is recycled into infrastructure materials for sports facilities such as running tracks, playgrounds and fitness corners; as well as potential materials fillers or gym mats and protection paddings. The eco-system would facilitate collection of shoe waste, sending them to the grinding facility and converting them for the intended usage.
Shoes should be dry and generally clean when dropped off. We do not encourage the donation of soiled shoes to avoid contamination.
We do not expect you to wash your shoes if they are generally clean and dry.

There is no limit to the number of pairs of shoes you can drop off. The more shoes you drop off, the more materials we have for recycling.
The target is to divert at least 170,000 pairs of sports shoes and school shoes away from landfill per annum. This is designed to be an ambitious yet achievable goal. It was reached by drawing on the expertise of all partners involved in the program and their collective experience of various public engagement activities to date. Plus, an assessment of preceding campaigns and the level of existing recycling activity in Singapore.
This project aims to recycle every part of the old shoe where different parts of the shoe can be repurposed for various uses. For instance, the soles of the shoes will be converted into granular material to be used for sports infrastructure including jogging tracks and fitness corners. There are also ongoing plans to develop prototypes of new sporting equipment using other parts of the shoe and other potential applications for recycled materials.
