Team Singapore athletes continued to impress on Day 3 of the Asian Youth Games, delivering record-breaking runs and strong performances across athletics and golf. On the track, Daryen Ko Xin Tze and Tng Kai Xin all clocked new milestones, while on the course, Guo Jun Xi and Kwong Ching Yat Bruce turned in consistent rounds to stay among the leaders.

On the track, Daryen Ko Xin Tze delivered a brilliant performance in the Boys’ 400m Hurdles Round 1, Heat 1, finishing first out of five with a time of 53.52 seconds. The result placed him first overall among 11 athletes and set a new personal best, as well as a new U17 and U18 national records for Singapore. Daryen’s record-breaking effort marks a milestone for the athletics team, and he will return for the Final on 25 October at 11:35p.m. (SGT).

In the Boys’ 400 m Final, Sean Russell Tay produced another solid performance, clocking 49.89 seconds to finish sixth out of eight competitors. Having earned his place in the final with a personal best earlier in the heats, Sean once again delivered a composed run against a strong field, rounding off a commendable campaign at the Games.

In the Girls’ 400m Hurdles Round 1, Heat 1, Tng Kai Xin displayed determination and composure, clocking a new personal best of 1:06.31. She placed fifth out of six in her heat and ninth overall out of 12 competitors. Though she did not advance, her strong showing underscored her progress and the steady development of Singapore’s next generation of athletes.

Meanwhile, at the Royal Golf Club, Riffa Views, Team Singapore’s golfers continued to impress in Round 2 of the individual events. In the Girls’ Individual competition, Guo Jun Xi maintained her fine form, carding a 67 (five under par) to finish joint third for the round. After two consistent performances, she now ranks second overall out of 31 golfers, putting herself in contention for a podium finish. Round 3 will tee off on 25 October at 12:30p.m. (SGT), where Jun Xi will look to carry her momentum into the final day.

In the Boys’ Individual event, Kwong Ching Yat Bruce also produced an excellent round, scoring 69 (three under par) to place fourth for Round 2. His strong play lifted him to joint ninth overall out of 51 athletes after two rounds. Bruce will return for Round 3 on 25 October at 12:30p.m. (SGT), aiming to continue his steady rise up the leaderboard.

As the Games progress, Team Singapore’s young athletes continue to rise to the occasion with grit and confidence. From national records and personal bests on the track to standout rounds on the course, their performances reflect the perseverance and pride that define what it means to wear the Singapore flag on their jerseys.
