Singapore's fastest man, Marc Brian Louis, capped his individual sprint campaign at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games with season-best performances in both the 100m and 200m, an encouraging sign as he builds towards the Sep 19 to Oct 4 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Louis, 23, finished third in his 100m heat after crossing the line in 10.38seconds on Monday (Jul 27, Glasgow time), ranking 25th out of 73 competitors.

"I got a season's best, so it's a good start… I started pretty well, but towards the end I died off a little bit, so there are things to work on,” Louis said, right after his opening race.
“I didn't expect much; I just wanted to go out there and have fun. If I get a good result, that's great. If not, I'll learn from it and move on,” he added, having also exited in the heats in Birmingham four years ago after a 10.51s effort.
He then clocked 20.97s to finish fourth in his 200m heat on Wednesday, racing alongside 2022 silver medallist Zharnel Hughes, who topped the heat in 20.45s.
Louis' time just missed the qualification mark of 20.79s, and placed him 24th overall out of 72 competitors.

Louis, who also set the national 60m record in the same Scottish city two years ago with a 6.69s sprint at the World Athletics Indoor Championships, will return to Scotstoun Stadium on Saturday for the 4x100m relay.
The relay squad comprises Tate Tan, Xander Ho, Ian Gan, Harry Curran, Mark Lee and Louis, with four of the six set to compete.
With the Asian Games less than two months away, Louis' performances in Glasgow offer a positive indication that he is rounding into form at the right time.
“The main target of (the Commonwealth Games) is to get out of this healthy and see where we are at right now,” said Louis, who was runner-up at April’s Singapore Open Track and Field Championships when he registered a time of 10.48s.
The last edition of the continental showpiece should also hold fond memories for Louis, who broke U.K Shyam’s 2001 national record by a tenth of a second with a 10.27s blitz in the 100m semi-finals at the 2022 Hangzhou Games.
Even in the 200m event, Louis can draw upon the momentum from his breakthrough silver medal at last December's SEA Games — Singapore's first medal in the event since Hamkah Afik's silver at the 1993 edition — in what was his maiden appearance over the distance at a major Games.
His dash of 20.72s at Thailand's Suphachalasai National Stadium was also a new national record.
Describing the upcoming Asian Games as "the main goal", the reigning national record-holder will now set his sights on reaching peak form in Nagoya, building on the strides made in Glasgow.
