8 December marked a huge day for Team Singapore, with key matchups across multiple sports as the Men’s Baseball team and both the Men’s and Women’s Handball teams aimed to strengthen their push for a semi-finals spot in the preliminary rounds. The Men’s and Women’s Badminton teams were also in action, fighting for a spot in the finals.
Team Singapore’s Men’s Baseball team started the day off by delivering a spirited performance in their third showdown at the 33rd SEA Games, triumphing over Vietnam at the Queen Sirikit 60th Anniversary Baseball Stadium. The Singapore side came out strong, racing to an 11–1 lead that put early pressure on their opponents.
Vietnam, however, mounted a determined comeback in the 5th and 6th innings, narrowing the gap to 15–12 and keeping the contest alive deep into the game. But Singapore held their nerve when it mattered. Digging deep and showing composure beyond the scoreboard pressure, they powered through the final stretch to close the match 19–12, sealing a victory that reflected both resilience and belief.
With this win, Singapore now sits in third place in the standings, just behind Thailand and the Philippines. The team will next face hosts Thailand tomorrow (9 Dec, at 3pm Singapore time), in what promises to be a defining clash — a chance to push higher, chase history, and continue writing their story with grit and heart.
Over at Gymnasium 4 of Thammasat University Rangsit Campus, the Men’s and Women’s Badminton teams put up valiant battles against Indonesia and Thailand respectively. Despite determined performances and flashes of brilliance, both teams concluded their Team events with joint bronze medals.

Meanwhile, at the Indoor Athletics Stadium Pattaya in Chonburi, Team Singapore’s handball teams opened their SEA Games campaigns.
The women’s team began the day facing Thailand. Despite entering the match with a clear strategy, Singapore found themselves on the back foot early as Thailand started strongly, racing to a 4–1 lead. With momentum firmly in their favour, Thailand continued to widen the gap. Gan Yun Ting powered through to score several goals in an effort to spark a comeback, but Thailand’s pace and precision proved decisive. Singapore eventually fell 31–17.

Fuelled by the women’s earlier effort, the men’s team returned to the court determined to make their mark. Both sides played with intensity from the start, remaining neck-and-neck and entering the break level. Regrouping at halftime, Team Singapore raised their game in the second half. A series of coordinated attacks and outstanding goalkeeping from Koh Isaac Vern helped Singapore seize control. Riding that momentum, the men pushed ahead and never looked back, opening their campaign with an impressive 26–19 victory over Indonesia.
