SEA Games 2025: Low hits high with skeet shooting gold

For the first time in 32 years, Singapore has a SEA Games champion in men’s individual skeet shooting. Low Jiang Hao made sure of that when he emerged tops at the Photharam Shooting Range on Dec 12.
The 31-year-old, who entered the final as the top shooter in the preliminary round, finished ahead of silver medallist Enrique Leandro Enriquez of the Philippines and bronze medallist Joseph Lee of Malaysia.
Low has been to the SEA Games podium before, but it has taken him a long time to have another shot at the top position. In fact, it has been 10 years since Singapore won any medals in skeet shooting.
After taking silver in the same event at the 2015 SEA Games on home soil, there were not many opportunities for Low to try again. Skeet shooting featured at the 2017 edition, but not again until the 33rd Games in Thailand.

“It means a lot,” said Low. “It’s been a decade since my last SEA Games medals, and there were many moments when it felt difficult to keep pushing. So this gold is very special. I’m thankful to (the Singapore Shooting Association) and everyone who supported me, and proud to do this for Singapore.”
It is not the first time a Singaporean stood at the top of the podium in skeet shooting: Peter Lee took a gold in open clay target skeet in 1993, although that was contested in an old format.
Low said: “I felt some nerves going into the final, as being in the lead brings pressure. But I reminded myself that anything could happen in an elimination system, so I focused on staying calm and taking it one shot at a time.
“I wasn’t thinking too much about winning or losing; I wanted to stay present and focus on my shots. I trusted my training and am grateful that I was able to perform well today.”
Low, an entrepreneur who owns a vehicle workshop, is hopeful this gold medal will signal new beginnings for skeet shooting in Singapore.
He said: “It’s very meaningful not just personally, but for the Singapore shooting community. I hope this gold can help motivate younger shooters and show that it’s possible to achieve success for Singapore in skeet shooting.
“This medal reassures us that our training methods are effective, but we know there’s always more to improve on. It gives us a clearer sense of direction moving forward, and I hope it also helps bring more recognition to skeet shooting and motivate the next generation of shooters.”
