Singapore Smash 2024

Strap in for the crème de la crème of table tennis extravaganza this March. Returning for the third edition, Singapore Smash will see elite athleticism meet unparalleled entertainment at the Singapore Sports Hub.

The action kicks off with qualifying matches from today (7th March) to the 9th, followed by the Main
Draw. There, the top 64-players for Men’s and Women’s singles, along with the 24-pairs of Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles will battle it out over eight days for their share of 2000 ITTF World Ranking Points and the prestigious Singapore Smash trophies.

World No.1s Fan Zhendong and Sun Yingsha will be headlining the Men’s and Women’s Singles events respectively, with both players looking to defend their title.

The former will be looking to build upon his Singapore Smash legacy by attempting to clinch his third consecutive singles title and maintain his undefeated run in Singapore.

Both Fan and Sun will have to be on their toes to fend off their Chinese rivals, with World No.2 Wang Chuqin and table tennis G.O.A.T Ma Long hot on Fan’s tails. Meanwhile, Sun will be challenged by Olympic champion Chen Meng and World No.3 Wang Yidi.

Adding to the excitement, the international contingent will feature stars such as French teenage sensation Felix Lebrun, Hugo Calderano, Hina Hayata and Miwa Harimoto among others.

Singaporean paddlers will also be taking to the court, with this year’s edition seeing the highest number of local paddlers participating in the event – 19.

Izaac Quek, Singapore’s highest ranked male paddler, will be looking to build on his remarkable and shocking run last year. Awarded with Wildcard status, the then-16-year-old stunned both Indian legend Sharath Achanta and 2019 World Championships silver medalist Mattias Falck to become the first Singaporean to reach the Round of 16 at Singapore Smash.

For the first time, fans will also be able to see the stars of the future at a WTT Series event, with the introduction of the WTT Youth Star Contender Singapore, the top tier event within the Youth series.

Fans will also be treated to world-class Para Table Tennis action with the inclusion of a Singapore Para Smash showcase. The three-day event will feature 12-player (men’s and women’s) combined standing class 6 and 7 singles competitions played in a round-robin format with three group winners and the best group runner-up advancing to the elimination semifinals.

Beyond the sporting action, fans will be able to immerse in the festivities at the Singapore Smash Park. Located at OCBC Square, the venue will be abuzz with live entertainment, delectable food and beverage options, and interactive fun for all ages. Here, fans can also seize the opportunity to rub shoulders with their favourite table tennis heroes off the court and take a piece of Singapore Smash home from the merchandise store.
