What are the application periods?

The application periods are listed in  the table below. Each application period corresponds to a specific competition period and applications will only be evaluated during the evaluation period. Applicants are advised to plan for their application according to the dates in the table below.

What are the qualifying costs?

6. Equipment Fees
   -  The usage of the equipment is directly linked to the sport
   - Only allowed to claim once per year

Updates:

SportSG has appointed Sport Excellence Singapore (SpexSG) Ltd (“SpexSG”) as its agent to manage and administer SportSG-owned grant schemes and scholarship agreements. SpexSG is a subsidiary of SportSG and the Government of the Republic of Singapore (C/O Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY)), and it provides comprehensive, integrated support for Team Singapore ("TeamSG") athletes through a range of programmes that encompass high-quality education, sport training, coaching, sports science, sports medicine, and athlete development, all designed to help athletes excel both on and off the field. This integrated support system enables TeamSG athletes to achieve their highest potential, with their journeys inspiring and uniting Singapore for current and future generations.

Accordingly, SpexSG will take over all operational and administrative functions relating to your grant please. SportSG, as the counter-party in your grant, will retain overall oversight and accountability as scheme owner, including approval of key matters such as scheme renewals or revisions, funding parameters, eligibility criteria, and award, where required. Where relevant, SpexSG will refer matters requiring SportSG’s discretion to SportSG for decision.

An assessment panel (comprising of SportSG staff) will review applications based on the following considerations:

1) Applicant

• For individual applicants, you must be a Singapore Citizen
• For team applicants, a mixed team consisting of Singapore Citizens and Singapore Permanent Residents can be considered
• Not currently a carded athlete, and not receiving support from a National Sports Association funded directly by SportSG
• Track record in the sport
• Selection by the sport's National Sports Association to represent Singapore (if applicable)
• Performance potential - The selection panel will take into consideration the performance potential of the applicant(s), their performance track record in the sport and commitment to prepare for competition. 

2) Competition

• Sanctioned by the sport's International Federation or National Sports Association
• Regional or international level
• Quality or strength of the competitor field
• Significance and prestige of the competition
• To provide a confirmed competition date at the date of the application 

The fund would strongly support first-time applicants subjected to the criteria stated in the application. Repeated applications will be considered on a case-to-case basis.
