Practical Strategies for Equity and Inclusion in Sport

Practical Strategies for Equity and Inclusion in Sport

Join this workshop to discover how to incorporate inclusiveness into your coaching practice!

Registration Deadline: 20 July 2026 (Monday)

This interactive workshop aims to equip participants with immediately actionable tools to create more inclusive and equitable environments for their athletes. Participants will explore how assumptions, biases, and everyday coaching practices can influence athlete experiences – from team selection and leadership opportunities to communication styles, feedback, and participation. Through case studies, scenario-based activities, group discussions, and guided reflection, participants will examine the difference between equality and equity, identify barriers that may unintentionally exclude athletes, and develop practical strategies to challenge biases, foster belonging, and support fair opportunities for all.

Clement graduated from the University of Queensland (UQ) with Honours in Human Movement Studies and his research area is in the Sociology of Sports. He loves sports and believes that social factors influence behaviour within the fields of sports, health and leisure, and will impact lives as well. He has been an academic staff of RP for 13 years. Before joining RP, he taught for some years in the Ministry of Education (MOE) (specializing in physical education) and was involved in organizing events and coaching football. He has been focusing on the module design and delivery of the module titled “Sociology of Sports, Health and Leisure” over the past years. He has attained the Certification for Facilitation and has been a peer coach to other RP colleagues over the past years as well.
