Diving equipment and accessories

Equipment:

  • A swimming pool that is at least 5 metres deep.
  • For springboard diving: A flexible diving board that can be adjusted to create more or less spring. It should be at least 4.8 metres long and a half-metre wide, with a non-slip surface.
  • For platform diving: A board that is at least six metres long and two metres wide, with a non-slip surface.

Personal items:

  • Shammy
One important item that all divers can benefit from having is a shammy (also known as a sammy or an aqua towel). These are small, highly absorbent towels that divers can use to dry themselves off between dives, be it during practice or at a competition. Even though bath or beach towels can serve the same purpose, these tend to get soaked fast and are hard to dry. Shammys, on the other hand, are mostly made from a synthetic polymer, which results in a greater absorption of water – one quick squeeze and it is ready for use again.
