Perhaps you’ve seen the huge posters pasted on lamp posts while driving on the road, or the advertisements plastered on passing buses. Perhaps you’ve watched our Team Singapore netballers in action live on television. You’ve now become interested in the sport, and want to try playing netball for leisure. But you don't know where to begin!

To help with that, we've put together a list of great places to pick up netball recreationally in Singapore.

1. Net4all

“Net4all” is a course organised by Netball Singapore, catering to anyone looking for an avenue to “convert their passion to reality”. Whether you’re young or old, male or female, “Net4all” doesn’t discriminate, as long as you have an interest in playing netball.

They offer both beginner courses for those who are totally clueless about the game and intermediate courses for more seasoned players.

All you have to do is sign up and turn up! The beginner course starts at $120 for 12 sessions inclusive of coaching fees, court fees & equipment.

Who can register: Anyone who is interested in Netball!
Where: Kallang Netball Centre
Contact Number: 6346 5063

2. KidzNet Programme

“KidzNet” is the modified counterpart of “Net4all”, accommodating younger ones aged 6 to 10 years old. It is the trademark of Netball Singapore, with smaller netballs and shorter goalposts altered to fit younger children. The coach to student ratio is 1:20.

It operates in a fun and healthy environment where kids can play comfortably with one another and attain basic netball proficiency, at the same time developing self-confidence and life skills.

Who can register: Kids (6 to 10 years old)
Where: Kallang Netball Centre
Contact Number: 6346 5063

3. Australian & New Zealand Academy (ANZA) Netball

If you want to get your kid involved in netball, ANZA Netball offer programmes for girls aged 6 to 16. It doesn’t matter if you do not have prior experience in the game, as they provide training to improve skills. These programmes include both practice and games, so you can be certain that training won't get dull!

This caters more to the Oceania / expat community and registration for the 2013/2014 season was priced at $300.

For adults interested in playing the game, they also have a Social Netball team that meets every Thursday morning at Kallang Netball Centre.

Who can register: Girls (6 to 16 years old)
Where: Tanglin Trust School (Children Classes)
Contact Number: 6223 7992 (ANZA Main Office)

4. Join a Club!

There is an abundance of recreational netball clubs out there that meet weekly to play the game. Most of the clubs also participate some of the netball leagues that occur every year just to engage in a little friendly competition.

These clubs are more community than commercial based. So just pick a club, join the team, and you can be part of their community too. Check out the list of netball clubs here.

5. Form your own team!

If you’ve already have a group of friends that are interested in playing netball, you could consider forming your own team. You can book netball courts at Kallang Netball Centre for $5 per hour on non-peak hours or $12.60 hour on peak hours.

Alternatively, you can book the courts at Sengkang Community Centre for $7 per hour.

Netball is a sport that can be enjoyed by everyone. Playing netball is a fantastic way to have fun, keep healthy and meet new people. Don’t miss out on this great team sport!
